Tell us the origin story of Complete Intelligence – what problem were you trying to solve and why?

After years of being with global forecasting firms (The Economist and IHS Markit), I realized that nearly all forecasting is done manually. I had worked with hundreds of multinational firms and all had long, expensive budgeting and forecasting processes. I started Complete Intelligence to automate budgeting processes and improve forecasting results for global companies.

What was the biggest hurdle you encountered in your journey?

Finding the right team is always hard. Lots of people have an idea of what startup life is like, but the reality is always different. Finding people who are capable, enthusiastic, and committed has been the hardest part of building the company.

What does the future hold for Complete Intelligence?

After years of developing our capability and doing pilot projects, we will deploy at several large firms this year, then begin to scale next year. Ultimately, we can help any finance team to automate budgeting and forecasting processes, so we have big plans.

What are your thoughts on the local tech startup scene in The Woodlands?
The Woodlands mostly houses regional offices for global corporate firms. There aren’t a lot of startups here. But the pandemic has driven many people from city centers and to Texas, so we’re hoping the number of startups here grows quickly.

What’s your best advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Have a clear understanding of your vision before you start. Your business will always change, but if you’re not clear about what you want from the beginning, you won’t build a focused product and you’ll have a very hard time with market fit.
